Your mission

As a part of Acoem’s dynamic team as a field service engineer responsible for the environmental division in Scotland, you’ll play a crucial role in providing on-site support, troubleshooting, and maintaining our environmental equipment to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction.

Acoem UK, a leading service and distribution provider for air quality, noise and vibration, and reliability services based in Tewkesbury, is actively seeking a skilled field service engineer (environmental division) to join our team in Scotland. Specializing in the environmental and air quality sector, your role will be pivotal in ensuring the optimal performance of our industry-leading solutions. 

Objectives of this role

  • Your mission involves the installation, commissioning, maintenance, calibration, and repair of equipment in the field.
  • Ensure a seamless operation across various environments.
  • Aim for a first-time fix whenever possible.
  • Uphold the highest safety standards outlined in Acoem’s H&SE Policy and our clients’ policies.
  • Work on becoming proficient in Acoem’s Environmental products, services, and maintenance procedures.
  • Strive for zero preventable failures.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the marketplace, including: the technology; its purpose; market drivers; standards; regional differences; competitors; their products; their pricing; distributors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and influential individuals within the marketplace.
  • Identify and participate in relevant trade shows, conferences, and other relevant industry events.
  • Identify and nurture new business opportunities, which may include: new projects, strategic partners, customers, or products.
  • Report directly to the Sales and Marketing Director.
  • Work with the internal sales engineer to prepare technical proposals and quotations.
  • Liaise closely with the sales, technical and operations team members to ensure coordinated efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct installation, commissioning, maintenance, and operation of Environmental Monitoring Systems, encompassing both routine and non-routine service work by following the daily schedule set by the service coordinator.
  • Carry out servicing work in strict adherence to customer requirements, technical manuals, documentation, and the quality system.
  • Perform service and maintenance tasks on all of Acoem’s environmental products and services by Ensuring work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and presentable state, including off-site locations.
  • Thoroughly plan each field trip to ensure the availability of all necessary tools, spares, and equipment for pending and current tasks. Additionally, ensure sufficient equipment and spares are on hand to address foreseeable failures as per the Vehicle stock sheet.
  • Conduct necessary inspections and tests as required by the quality system, ensuring proper documentation and approval where necessary.
  • Promptly complete all relevant paperwork on-site, including service reports, risk assessments, and method statements, with high attention to detail as these documents are customer-facing.
  • Submit expenses, mileage, and meal forms along with supporting receipts on time.
  • Undertake offered or scheduled training sessions remotely or otherwise, whenever possible.
  • Manage stock and tools effectively, providing regular reports on time.
  • Adhere to all Acoem policies efficiently, diligently, and on time, ensuring compliance with relevant OH&S Acts, safety regulations, standards, and codes of practice.
  • Ensuring cleanliness, safety, and presentability of work areas and vehicles.
  • Achieving objectives outlined in the Annual Performance Review documents.
  • Fulfilling any other duties as assigned.
  • Handling, transporting, and packaging sensitive electronic equipment and tools with care and following safety protocols.
  • Ensuring the upkeep of assigned vehicles to uphold optimal functionality and safety standards, strictly for professional use following company policy.

Required skills & qualifications

  • Self-motivated and proactive with a high attention to detail, capable of working independently and meeting deadlines while demonstrating initiative.
  • Proficient in both independent work and collaboration within a team environment, adapting readily to shifting job priorities.
  • Possess GCSE grades of at least C in Maths and English.
  • Demonstrated adaptability to changing circumstances.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Sound understanding of electronics or electronic principles.
  • Enthusiastic about personal and professional growth, seeking out new experiences and responsibilities.
  • Holds a clean driving license
