Our commitments
We reduce

We reduce our environmental impact

  • Decarbonize our activities : Mesure and reduce our CO2 emissions across all our operations
  • Ecodesign our products : Design our products to reduce environmental impact, focus carbon, across value chain
  • Circularize our business : Maximising the benefits of eco-design by improving repairs and end-of-life management

In line with the products we sell, which enable our customers to measure in order to know how to act, we are committed to measuring the carbon emissions linked to our entire value chain in order to know where to act in order to reduce our emissions.

Spotlight on recent key initiatives

Carbon audit
We launched the measurement of our carbon emissions for 2023 on scopes 1/2/3 (the entire value chain) for our French operations, and on scopes 1/2 (direct activities) for all worldwide manufacturing sites.
Carbon footprint and reduction trajectory
Understanding the sources of our emissions and their weight allowed us to focus our efforts on the key issues like ecodesign, mobility, sustainable procurement. We worked on the action plans during workshops with the business lines concerned to define the most ambitious trajectory possible.
Carbon monitoring
We have equipped ourselves with a carbon accounting platform to facilitate the collection of data and manage our decarbonisation trajectory. This will give us greater autonomy in our management in France and in our deployment at a Group level in the years to come.

CO2 Footprint of Acoem 2023

Spotlight on recent key initiatives

Energy consumption
Since 2021, several initiatives have led to a 37% reduction in energy consumption compared to the 2015 baseline. Solar panels were installed at our headquarters in 2023, with a production capacity of 45 MWh per year, covering 30% of our energy needs.
Ecodesign
The redesign of the MVx has resulted in a 50% reduction in both the weight of electronic boards and energy consumption during its usage phase.

Ecodesign our products

We have always endeavoured to incorporate environmental considerations into the products and services we offer our customers, in particular by offering repairable products. The idea now is to structure an eco-design approach and roll it out across the Group.

Train our team on eco-design
In 4th quarter 2023, we started our eco-design journey by training Acoem France teams who could have influence or control over eco-design (R&D, supply chain, industrialization, marketing, after-sales services). The objective of this training was to master the know-how and fundamental concepts governing eco-design, so we could speak a common language.
Understanding recycling constraints
To make our products as recyclable as possible, we started by fully understanding the constraints of recyclers by visiting a French electronic waste treatment plant. This discussions enabled us to identify several important issues to integrate into our eco-design approach: make batteries accessible, facilitate separation of parts, less plastic-more steel, massification of waste flows.
Eco-design checklist
An eco-design checklist has been created and applied to a new development. This checklist has helped to ensure that a certain number of criteria have been considered to maximize the reduction of the environmental impact over the entire life cycle of the product and to measure the overall eco-design effort. The goal is to use this checklist systematically for all our developments.

Circularize our business

We believe that eco-design is inextricably linked to the circular economy. If our products are designed to be recycled but we don’t help our customers recycle properly, we won’t really be succeeding in our eco-design journey.

  • Product repairability is part of our DNA : We’ve always been committed to designing repairable products and offering after-sales services to keep our products running as long as possible.
  • Our products are upgradable : When our products need to be upgraded, we make a point of designing them so they can be upgraded with only a few components needing to be changed. In the case of a new version of the product, we try to recover the old products and extend their lifespan (resale, hire, spare parts)

Increase recycled raw materials in our packaging
Adding recycled material to products is an important part of circularity. In 2023, we initiated this approach for our packaging for part of our environment and reliability product range. This action was coupled with the choice of a more local supplier in order to reduce CO2 emissions linked to transport.

Our 4 sustainability commitments
