The “single-point” efficiency paradigm
The VECTA’s primary technical advantage lies in its ability to measure up to eight parameters simultaneously from a single mounting location. Unlike traditional tunnel monitoring that requires separate instruments for visibility and each specific toxic gas, the VECTA integrates light-scattering technology for visibility with dual gas monitoring ports for electrochemical cells. This consolidation significantly lowers the “Total Cost of Ownership” by reducing the electrical infrastructure needed—requiring only one power and comms cable rather than a complex web of wiring for multiple standalone sensors.
Maintenance revolution: the plug-and-play GSM
The core of the VECTA’s gas measurement system is the pre-calibrated Gas Sensor Module (GSM). In most tunnel environments, calibration is a logistical nightmare involving the transport of heavy, high-pressure gas cylinders into active traffic bores. The VECTA eliminates this by utilising smart modules that store their own factory calibration data. Maintenance staff can simply swap an expired module for a new one in minutes, achieving instant recalibration without ever opening a gas bottle in the tunnel.
