Setting up the dial kit

There are many ways you can set up dial indicators for a reversed-rim measurement. We have choosen to work with a setup like the one in the figure at the right.
The beauty of this setup is that you have both dials on the same side of the coupling making it a lot easier to see which way the dials are going (+ or -) while turning the shafts, as well as it is less cumbersome to read off the values.

When working with shaft alignment we always try to position ourselves so that the movable machine is on the right and the stationary machine is on the left.
