First NATA-accredited noise monitoring instrument calibration laboratory in Australasia opens in Melbourne

5 Apr 2019

Acoem Australasia’s newly NATA-accredited noise monitoring instrument calibration facility offering is available as part of the Calibration, Service & Repair Centre, making the Centre a one-stop noise & vibration shop in Australasia—covering everything from instrument supply, service, and calibration to data reporting.

Acoem Australasia is now ISO 17025 compliant for noise monitoring instrument calibration.

Located at Acoem Australasia’s headquarters in Melbourne, the laboratory opened in October 2018. It is the first NATA-accredited Acoem (formerly 01dB) sound level meter instrument calibration laboratory in the world outside France.

The Calibration, Service & Repair (CSR) laboratory was established to meet the growing needs of Acoem noise customers in Asian and Australian markets. Previously, all Acoem sound level meters had to be sent to France for calibration, service, and repairs, which required long lead times and meant that customers had to forgo noise monitoring capabilities during that time.

Acoem’s new NATA-accredited noise monitoring instrument calibration laboratory in Melbourne is a one-stop shop.

NATA-accreditation as an added guarantee of quality & service

“We’ve listened to our customers to create this new hub for noise and vibration instrument calibration in Australasia,” commented the Acoem Australasia Customer Services Manager.

“With a 7-10-day turnaround, our Melbourne-based Calibration, Service & Repair Centre delivers globally recognised NATA-accredited services at competitive prices, saving Acoem customers valuable time and money.”

“Feedback has been extremely positive, and we’re delighted to lift the level of service Acoem customers can expect”.

Working together to solve global environmental problems

The purpose-built laboratory was created to meet customer demand for ISO 17025 compliance and shorter servicing times. To ensure accuracy and precision of all processes, our team travelled to France to undertake extensive training prior to the CSR Centre’s opening. The training provided an added layer of detail regarding every aspect of equipment calibration, service and repair, enhancing the in-depth knowledge of noise and vibration instruments.

In its first few months of operation, even prior to NATA-accreditation, the CSR Centre serviced dozens of Acoem sound meters and equipment from domestic and international customers, including DUOCUBE and FUSION instruments from environmental monitoring consultancies in Taiwan, Indonesia and Malaysia.
