Application: Large-scale groundwater monitoring and aquifer health assessment for a remote industrial mining site.

The Challenge

The project presented a logistical and data integrity mountain to climb, requiring the monitoring of more than 1,500 bores across a vast 130 km² area. Beyond the harsh physical environment, the team had to ensure absolute consistency in sampling methods across thousands of locations while managing complex field logistics in remote, high-risk industrial zones. The primary hurdle was synthesising massive volumes of raw data into actionable insights that could satisfy strict regulatory reporting obligations.

The Solution

Acoem deployed an end-to-end solution combining specialist field teams with our proprietary Environmental Water Monitoring System (EWMS). Experienced technicians perform onsite bore sampling, downhole logging, and varied groundwater sampling techniques, all governed by rigorous QA/QC protocols. The EWMS serves as the digital backbone, tracking every data point from the field to the final report to ensure total auditability and data integrity.

The Outcome

This program provides the operator with a clear window into the subsurface environment, offering genuine insight into groundwater behavior and its response to mining activities. By streamlining what would otherwise be a manual, error-prone process, the EWMS ensures a seamless stream of defensible data.
