Synspec Alpha series

Methane and total non-methane hydrocarbons (TNMHC) analysers

The Synspec Alpha analyser is a real gas chromatograph that features a compact oven with a column that separates methane from total non-methane hydrocarbons using an FID detector.

The methane (CH₄) gas sample passes through a special layered, packed column and is injected into the detector. A second after this, the column is back-flushed and all other hydrocarbons pass to the detector, resulting in two peaks generated by the FID – one for methane and one for TNMHC. The measurements are captured using true gas chromatographic separation which prevents potential catalytical conversion problems which may arise in other indirect measurements.

Acoem offers two different models of Synspec Alpha methane/TNMHC analysers:

Synspec Alpha 115 for ambient air measurements in cities or near industries
Synspec Alpha 116 for stack measurement up to 1000 ppm with a higher range.

A good source of methane-free zero-air is required

Must run with a catalytic methane scrubber and work at a temperature of at least 400° C or use nitrogen as a carrier gas and the zero air only for the detector air supply

Internal calibration switch

For calibration zero and span gas, gas stream requires 25 mL at 1 atm pressure
